Aksa Beach has been the most popular among all of the beaches on Madh Island, thanks to the song Tujhe Aksa Beach Ghuma Doon in God Tussi Great Ho. But there’s more to the area than meets the eye. All of these beaches can be reached when you visit Versova and then take a ferry to Madh Island. From there, you can take an auto to any of these beaches. You can also reach via train to Malad station.

LBB Tip: Please remember to travel in a group, because as gorgeous as these places are, they are a little away from the city and shouldn’t be visited alone.

Marve Beach

Marve Beach is usually known because it is the beach that connects to Essel World and Water Kingdom, but did you know it’s just 20 minutes away from Aksa Beach? There are quite a few street food vendors here selling corn on the cob, chana chaat and other street foods, so plenty to nibble on after your long journey. Protected by the Indian Navy, this beach offers perfect Instagram-worthy landscapes with a likely armed forces vessel in the background. Also, the regular hustle and bustle of the fishermen and other locals who ferry themselves with their produce makes for a great click. However, be careful not to go for a swim on this beach as the current can get very strong in these waters.

How To Reach: Take the Western Express Highway via taxi, bus, or private car, and you will be there in about an hour.

LBB-Tip: Amenities here are limited. So be sure to pack water, snacks, essentials, hats, sunscreen, and beachwear.

Dana Pani Beach

Dana Pani is just a little off Aksa beach, and is a beautiful space with a wide road next to it, a few residential houses and a lot of greenery. The surroundings are lovely, but there isn’t much to do here and it can get pretty isolated. While most of it is a pleasing sight (especially the sunset view), in some parts, the beach in itself does require cleaning up, like most of the beaches in Mumbai. What we love about Dana Paani beach is that it isn’t too crowded and is very close to the city. When here, simply relax on the beach or try some street food. Look forward to some prawns, Maggi, vada pav, etc. Like we said, visit the beach for the sunset and stay in a cosy space around.

How To Reach: Take the Western Express Highway if travelling by your private car, or catch a bus from the National Park.

LBB-Tip: Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited here.

Erangal Beach

Erangal is the name of a small village on Madh Island, and has a small beach by this eponymous name as well. We visited Erangal, and to get to it, you have to go through the small road running through the hamlet. We loved the pretty and colourful houses and villas here. The best part? Almost each had an outdoor swing in the courtyard. It’s a lesser-known, small, and local beach to visit. And while you are there, do visit the 500-year-old church where locals frequent a lot.

How To Reach: Located along the Western Express Highway, you can easily reach here via taxi, bus, or your private vehicle.

Gorai Beach

A pleasant one-and-a-half-hour drive from the Aksa beach, Gorai Beach is famous for its peaceful vibes and scenic beauty. Come here with your family, better half, or best buddies to indulge in a soulful potluck picnic surrounded by the sparkling sea, soothing breeze, and an epic sunset to set the mood. The sand here is quite clean and perfect for a relaxing walk. For a little extra fun, you can hop on a camel, horse, or boat ride. Wondering about the food scene here? You can treat yourself to spicy masala chana, icy golas, and vada paos that are sure to delight your taste buds. Gorai Beach is mostly isolated except for a few small shacks selling beach essentials like shorts, sandals, and snacks, making it a perfect place to read, write, or simply enjoy some quiet time alone. There are also cosy cottages available for booking if you are planning a birthday or wedding celebration.

How To Reach: The fastest way to reach this beach is via a taxi or your private vehicle. Take the Western Express Highway and follow Uttan Road.

LBB tip: While the beach is car-friendly, we recommend you rent a cycle from the shacks to add a whole new level of fun to your experience.

Silver Beach

If you are after a peaceful, clean spot with a laid-back vibe, Silver Beach is just the place. As an extension of Juhu Beach, it boasts golden sands, a wide shoreline, and a lively atmosphere with chirping birds and the calming sound of the sea. Ideal for those who love strolling, meditating, or sky-gazing, this beach has a hidden gem, an elevated park that opens early in the morning, giving the spot a special charm. Another major highlight of this beach is its epic sunset over the Arabian Sea, one of the most stunning you will ever witness. Also, do not forget to drink the refreshing nariyal paani while you are here.

How To Reach: Book a local auto or taxi to conveniently reach this destination. For the quickest route, take the Magan Nathuram Road.

Rock Beach

Rock Beach is at the far end of Versova, where the city’s chaos melts into crashing waves and beautiful blue skies. Unlike the sandy beaches of Mumbai, this one is all about rocks, like the name suggests. It stretches along the coast, making it the ideal spot for viewing sunsets. You'll often find photographers perched on the edges, trying to capture the light bouncing off the sea. The area was even cleaned up massively some years ago, so you may even spot some sea turtles, if you're lucky. It’s not great for swimming, but perfect if you just want to sit, breathe, and listen to the ocean. Once you’re done visiting the beach, there are a lot of restaurants, cafes, and nearby spots you can visit around Versova

How To Reach: The fastest and easiest way to reach here is by getting off the Versova metro station and taking a 10-minute auto ride. You can even walk as it’s just a kilometre away.

LBB-Tip: Be careful as the rocks may be slippery, and there’s no real lifeguard zone.

Madh Beach

Sitting on the North-Western edge of Mumbai, Madh Beach is a rather quiet place and we'd say it still feels untouched. It's not fancy or super-packed with food stalls, but that is the whole appeal. You'll spot locals jogging, kids playing, and sometimes people just sitting, chatting, or watching the sea. It is not the cleanest, especially on the weekends, but still a good spot when you're not looking for a typical touristy scene. Sunsets here are beautiful and there's usually a gola or chana wala hanging around. It's not safe to swim here because of the strong currents, so it's best for long walks or just chilling around. There's also Madh Fort and an old Madh Church close by if you're up for exploring.

How To Reach: Take the ferry from Versova Jetty to Madh Island and then take an autorickshaw to the beach, which is about 2 km away.

Manori Beach

If you've been wanting to get out of the city without really leaving it, this is your sign to visit Manori Beach. It's one of those rare spots in Mumbai where life slows down. A lot of people know the beach as mini Goa as it's got a laid-back vibe, beachside shacks, and some Portuguese charm. There are also colourful old homes, chapels, and plenty of seafood here. The beach is wide, clean and great for long strolls. It's usually a bit busy on the weekends with cyclists, groups of friends, families, and couples out for a picnic. It's perfect for catching a stunning sunset or just sitting back and relaxing.

How To Reach: Head to the Marve jetty and take the ferry to Manori. Once you're off the boat, it's just a short walk away. If you're taking a private car, drive along the Manori-Gorai road.
