Santosh Mitra Square: Operation Sindoor
Santosh Mitra Square certainly knows how to capture the spotlight. With Durga Ma at its centre, Santosh Mitra Square pays tribute to the country's armed forces this year. The Indian Army's recent Operation Sindoor, which involved cross-border attacks on terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), is the inspiration for the theme. The pandal is designed to resemble an unkempt cave which holds the idol. This year marks Santosh Mitra Square's 90th year of Durga Puja. Last year, they had recreated the Sphere from Las Vegas and the year before that, it was Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Kashi Bose Lane: Pakdandi
In its 88th year, Kashi Bose Lane's 2025 Durga Puja theme, "Pakdandi", is a tribute to the legendary author Leela Majumdar. 'Pakdandi', meaning 'the winding path', is also the title of the author's autobiography. She even won a Rabindra Puraskar for it. Kashi Bose Lane's Durga Puja, founded in 1937 is considered to be one of the oldest 'barowari pujos' (communities coming together to celebrate puja).

Ahiritola Sarbajanin Durgotsav is renowned for its artistic talent and rich cultural legacy. Among the various Durga pujas in North Kolkata, this one is among the most well-known. 'Probaho', which means "flow" or "frequency", is this year's theme. Another interesting fact about Ahiritola is that Job Charnock, founder of then Calcutta, an English administrator from the 17th century, first stepped foot in Ahiritola Ghat on the Hooghly's eastern bank.

Samaj Sebi Sangha, in its 80th year as well, has come up with a theme that is close to the heart. 'Pather Panchali' focuses on Bengali communities' pride, heritage, and religious peace, paying homage to cultural icons and the diverse range of Bengal's culture. Using theatrical and historical imagery from the riots in Kolkata, the pandal will recreate the atmosphere of the original 1946 puja. popular for its dramatic ramp exhibitions, record-breaking coloured road art (the longest alpona), and artwork that conflates traditional devotion with cultural festivals.

Dakshindari Youth Club: Dahan
This year's theme is "Dahan", meaning "being burnt" or "struggle after burn injuries". Inspired by Shuvo Dasgupta's poem "Ami Shei Meye", its central section will be hollow and represent the goddess as an expectant mother. "Ami Shei Meye" ('I am that girl') will be presented by theatrical performers when they appear. Survivors of acid attacks will stand on a stage on one side and shout the same slogan.
