Hotel 233 Park Street

233 Park Street is a study in juxtapositions, with the speed of the modern metropolis meeting the timeless patina of an old colonial mansion at Seven Point Crossing. With six well-appointed rooms, this three-star hotel occupies the ground floor of an exquisite residence from the era in Park Circus. Think arched passages, wide cornices, and high ceilings that mirror the city's history. Revel in the unique decor, right from the copper-lined brass canopy above the front door to the dome-shaped lobby and reception area. It's furnished with a variety of antique furniture, ranging from mahogany to Burma teak, and features a mélange of zamindarinawabi, and colonial styles.

ITC Royal Bengal

The first thing you'll notice in the entrance lobby of ITC Royal Bengal is a huge painting of the Victoria Memorial. Move further ahead and you'll find a lovely painting of the Hooghly River and the historic Howrah Bridge in front of the dining room, the Grand Market Pavilion. In the evening, you can visit the Darjeeling Lounge for tea. Inspired by Dalhousie's street chai near the Stock Exchange, Share Market Chai is a popular beverage among all. It consists of Assam tea with strong spices and Gondhoraj cookies. ITC Royal Bengal's rooftop bar, Skypoint, transports guests to the 1970s and 1980s. It offers a very tactile experience with its stunning antiquated decor, which features a maroon, off-white, and dark brown palette. Sip on cocktails as you peer into the cityscape overlooking the wetlands.

Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residencies

Start your day with Novotel's buffet, which features a variety of options including pizza, salads, biryani, and a traditional Bengali thali, accompanied by house-made desserts. The mishti doi is an absolute standout; don't miss it! The 24-hour bar, Sante, for mood-boosting drinks; Café Joy for coffee made with Blue Tokai beans; and Fat Little Penguin for a scoop of their homemade ice cream. Make an appointment at the Meghavi Wellness Spa to truly relax. During my discussions with the Novotel Kolkata personnel, I witnessed how carefully every aspect is planned, from sustainability to cuisine. With recurring themes like Sustainability Brunch and Durga Puja dishes that highlight both regional and international tastes, their weekend brunches at The Square are immersive. They replaced single-use plastics with glass water bottles in all 340 rooms. Regular tastings and seasonal menus ensure that the food quality remains at the highest level.
