If there's one thing we love about Goa it's how sustainable it is and how its residents live a life that inspires us all to make Goa our retirement home. Part of this sustainability is reflected in their lifestyle and eating habits. If you've spent even two days in Goa, we're sure you've spotted many locals walking, jogging or running on the beach and the many MANY stores that offer 'organic' produce. One such store that caught our eyes is Vnya, and here's why we're totally in love with it.

Vnya's Origin

Founded in 2020, Vnya is a pandemic baby that has grown to become a popular homegrown Indian food brand. Originally from the pristine mountains of Uttarakhand, the brand produces all its products organically, adhering to a zero-waste policy. And while you may think that's what a lot of brands do, what we love about them is how they source all their produce from small, marginalised family farms that practice traditional and sustainable farming techniques. Brainchild of Supriya Sarin and Tilak Goswami, Vnya's foundation story is deeply personal and emotionally tied to a dog named Leo. Leo was rescued and healed by Supriya through her journey into the healing power of organic food, and this experience also inspired the brand's focus on health and purity. Interestingly, this led Supriya to shift her 15-year career in advertising to eco-entrepreneurship and educating people about clean food. As a result, Vnya's store in Goa (in Sangolda, Goa, near Alua Resort and The Paperboat Collective) is a zero-waste grocery store.

LBB Tip: They also organise Goa's first Clean Food Market from time to time. Check out their social media for more information.

About Vnya's Products

The brand's story is impressive, but what's even more impressive is its eclectic range of authentic, organic products reflecting India's rich culinary heritage. Products here include pulses, homemade pickles, masalas, essential oils, ghee made by traditional methods, ethically sourced raw honey, speciality Himalayan pink salt, aromatic rice, and other artisanal preserved foods. They also have ready-to-eat snacks and beverages. Each product undergoes rigorous quality checks, which Supriya's family personally oversees. So you know, nothing that reaches the store is ever mediocre. Additionally, they also ensure that the farmers are fairly priced for their produce.
