This Restored Goan Home Turned Into A Hostel Is All About Cosy Beds & Coworking Corners
Overview
About Malkin Hostel
The hostel has a very familiar aura, and chances are, it's because you already know the owner — actor and entrepreneur Parul Gulati. Famed from shows like Girls Hostel and her beloved hair extension brand Nish Hair. Parul's brainchild, Malkin Hostel Goa, is loved by people for its cosy & welcoming feel that comes in the form of a stunning blend of heritage and modern design. Think yellow walls and red-tiled roofs.
Nestled in the lanes of Arpora, Bardez, it's a restored Goan home turned into a contemporary hostel. There's a central courtyard with an indoor pool, a beautiful garden, a lounging area, a jungle gym (out in nature) with wooden weights, and a common dining area, kitchen, & library. There's also a pool table in the dining area, which serves as a great icebreaker. It's a short drive from Baga Beach and Anjuna Beach and is the kind of place where you can check in with a backpack, expect to stay longer than you planned, while keeping up with deadlines in between sunsets and shack hopping.
Food & Drinks
Despite being a hostel, you don't really have to step out for breakfast or make your own ( you still have those options, though). The in-house restaurant serves breakfast with à la carte, continental and vegetarian options. They won't be the most lavish plates you'll have, but they'll be fuss-free and filling enough to kickstart your day. During the day, the kitchen serves a variety of dishes, including Indian, Chinese, and seafood options. You can also make your own meal in the kitchen or simply order in.
Rooms, Stay & More
Malkin Hostel Goa has a compact inventory with around 13 rooms, which helps keep things intimate rather than chaotic (like many other hostels). You'll find a mix of AC rooms here, so you pick from the following options:
Dorms: With bunk beds and personal plug points, there are 8-bed dorms, 10-bed dorms, and a female-only dormitory. It's ideal for solo travellers or groups looking to make new friends or meet new people.
Private Rooms: If you're not too comfortable sharing a room with that many strangers, you can book a private room. These units come with a queen bed, more privacy, attached or semi-attached bathrooms, and in some cases, balconies & garden views.
What we really love about the property is its location. Arpora is a comfortable base for exploring North Goa. Baga Beach is about 2 km away, while Anjuna & Vagator Beaches are about 5 to 7 km away. Then there's Chapora Fort (7 to 8 km away), night markets, local eateries, and the wider Baga-Calangute belt, which offers numerous cafes and nightlife options.
Price: Starts at INR 3,200 for dorms
