And long before it became famous for the Art District, it was already a go-to place for shopaholics and foodies. So, whether you’re in the mood to shop, eat, read or just take a nice evening stroll, Lodhi Colony has you covered, and this is the only guide you’ll need to explore the neighbourhood.

How To Reach: Lodhi Colony is easily accessible by car. The nearest metro station to Lodhi Colony in Delhi is Jorbhagh on the yellow line or, you can take an auto to to the Dilli Haat-INA station for getting on the pink line.

Best Time To Visit: Visit Lodhi Colony during the day if you wish to walk around the neighbourhood and enjoy the art district's murals in all their glory.

Cafe Dali

Cafe Dali in Meherchand Market in Lodhi Colony serves really nice authentic Italian food, and the tiny but cosy space reminds you of a cafe in Tuscany with candle lit tables, vintage accents, books and paintings lining the walls. The food is extremely good but hurts your pocket a little more than you will like so save this place for special occasions in place of casual dinners.

Must Try: Pizza, pasta and anything from their truffle menu

Started by the dynamic duo of chefs Jatin and Julia, Tres is the perfect place to indulge in the best European food and enjoy a fine dining experience with scrumptious food, great service and well-rounded cocktails. Their outdoor space is lovely and perfect for hanging out on a date when good food and good mood is the memo.

Must Try: Grilled Chicken Salad With Avocado, Burrata Salad With Kombu Marinated Tomatoes and Pressed Pork Belly Sandwich

Guppy

With its playful interiors, sushi bar and lovely cocktails, Guppy shall remain a favourite of ours for grabbing Japanese food. The ramen and ‘The Wasabi Way’ cocktail is our go-to order that never disappoints. What's better is that they have vegan and gluten-free options too!

Devan's Coffee & Tea

Devan's is where folks who take their cuppa seriously go. Their filter coffee is insanely good and each coffee offering hits different. We recently visited and saw them serving matcha too and have something new to try for our next visit. You can also buy packed coffee packets for making at home.

A cute little purple eatery, Jamun offers authentic Indian cuisines and the menu is a celebration of India's rich regional diversity. Lose the formality and dig into the food with your hands (even the appetizers) because that's the only correct way to eat Indian food. Oh, the drinks are fab too!

Must Try: Dahi Gol Gappa, Mutton Ghee Roast, Jamun Chicken, Kerala Raw Mango Curry and Dal Panchmel

Carnatic Cafe

Hand on heart, Carnatic Cafe is one of our most favourite spots for grabbing soul-satisfying dosas and South Indian food delights in Delhi. The food can be a bit of a hit or miss situation at times but when its a good day, you will be relieved you came here for their Malleshwaram 18th Cross Dosa or Dahi Vada and Thatte Idli for a hearty meal.

While some products are a little expensive, they are handcrafted and of impeccable quality which makes them worth every penny! Here are a few stores that we absolutely loved and will visit again.

Shades Of India

The perfect store for women's apparel, jewellery and other accessories, Shades of India is known for its contemporary designs created by traditional artisans. The price starts from INR 850 and goes up to INR 25,000.

The Shop has a collection of clothes, blankets, toys, and more, made from cotton, mulmul and wool. They have stitched as well as unstitched fabrics for women's kurtas and beautiful prints seem to be a thing of common all around the store

Bombay Shirt Company has a physical store in Old Meherchand Market in Lodhi Colony. Check them out for men shirts in all sorts of patterns and colours and for even getting custom shirts made.

Gypsy Boho is a gem of a store that sells exquisite soft furnishings with Jaipuri prints. Their quilts, dohars, towels and coaster are absolutely stunning. In addition to these, they also have decor items like brass cutlery and candle holders to beautify your space along with  women's ethnic clothing.

Cottons & Satins

Cottons & Satins has been an iconic store in Meherchand Market for end to end home furnishing solutions. They have upholstery, draping, cushion covers, wallpapers are even do customizations for furniture. Their fabric sand prints are extremely whimsical, perfect for adding a touch of luxury to your space. They have another store by the same name next door that also stores imported dinnerware and lots more.

The Bookshop Inc

Functional since 1970, The Bookshop has been described as the "cosiest bookshop in the country" by NY Times, and we totally agree. They also host a number of seminars with authors and oh, that tree made with stacks of books during the Christmas days warms our heart, always!

Things To Do

One of the best things to do after your shopping spree is head to Lodhi Gardens for a nice evening walk. Lodhi Colony also has a rich cultural history and is home to Delhi’s popular and iconic hubs that you can visit. Oh, there are also many salons and nail salons here in case you need some TLC.

Lodhi Art District

With 54 beautiful murals, Lodhi Art District is Delhi's first open air art museum which you can marvel at during your walk around the area. The best part? Time is not a restraint as far as this activity is concerned!
