What Is The Indian Makeup Look? And How You Can Nail It This Festive SZN!

I'd say that an Indian wedding makeup look is anything that an Indian decides to wear on their face. But if I had to define it, it would be a very traditional, glowing face with kohl-defined eyes, red (or sometimes, nude) lips, fluttery lashes, and shimmery eyeshadows, all on faces that are gleaming with joy because of the festivities. Of course, you can play with the intensity of your look according to the occasion — weddings, pujas, Diwali parties, jagratas, and the likes.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference; but if you're looking for the typical Indian festive look then keep reading to find everything you need!

Skincare

While talking about any look, skincare should be the first step. You need to prep your face for all the layering that's going to stay put while you dance, drink, eat and enjoy. A good cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen (for the day) are key to healthy skin, to that mix, also add a primer this time.

Face

The base is usually heavy, with full coverage, and needs to be perfectly blended, concealing all your worries away! If you like to keep it lightweight then we'd recommend going for a BB cream or skin tint instead of a foundation or skipping foundation altogether and heading straight to concealer (that's what I prefer). And if you want to take that extra step, use a strobing cream for giving the skin that luminous base before going in with your complexion products. After setting it all in place, go in for some contouring if you want that snatched look. Then my favourite, blush! (there's never too much). Top it up with a highlighter that is brighter than your future, and the first step is done.

Eyes

I would say eyes are the show-stopper of this entire look. You want them to really shine and glimmer. Other than that you're free to play with different looks and see what really works for you and your outfit. You could either go all out, like a smokey eye or keep it simple by just blending some warm tones that looks stunning on Indian skin, just make sure to top it off with some glitter! Oh and, you must not forget kajal and lashes for completing the look!
