CeraVe’s skincare game is undeniably strong and they are great at what they do. Their formulations are simple, effective and powered by ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide. Their facewashes and moisturising creams are considered one of the best available in the market, and I’ve been a huge fan since time immemorial.

However, other skincare brands have upped their game too and it’s totally possible to have a CeraVe-level routine (maybe even better) without spending CeraVe-level money.

From cleansers to oil-free moisturisers, here’s a list of alternatives to CeraVe’s best-selling products with the same science-backed goodness to your skincare shelf.

The CeraVe hydrating cleanser contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid, which work to hydrate and nourish dry skin. It cleans dirt and impurities whilst mainting the skin barrier. We have found Minimalist's 6% Oat Extract Gentle Cleanser does the same job and has the added benefit of 6% Oat extract which has anti-irritation properties along with a smooth and calming effect. Both have a non-foaming formula, more like a cream or lotion, and are extremely gentle on the skin.

The CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser has Salicylic Acid in it to reduce acne and unclog pores, three skin-identical ceramides, and infusion with hyaluronic acid to ensure your skin feels hydrating after every wash. While there are many Salicylic Acid cleansers in the market, I absolutely love COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser that delivers real results. This K-beauty product has the same features as CeraVe including antioxidant and skin-brightening properties.

If you have dry skin then you must check out Re’equil’s moisturiser. This one has hyaluronic acid and ceramides, just like CeraVe Daily Moisturising Lotion. It’s non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores), is dermatologically tested and is also free from sulphates, parabens and mineral oils, which is always a good thing.

We’ve seen Cetaphil and CeraVe being compared time and again, and to certain extent both of these brands are considered interchangeable too, so it was inevitable adding a Cetaphil product on the list. The Cetaphil Moisturising Cream helps improve and maintain your skin barrier and claims to work as a humectant (attracts water) and an emollient (helps smoothen skin). It also claims to provide instant hydration for 48 hours.

The Episoft AC Moisturiser With Microencapsulated Sunscreen is non-comedogenic, lightweight, has SPF 30, and makes for a good alternative for the AM Lotion by CeraVe. Both of these products have been dermatologically tested and do a good job of keeping your skin hydrated. However, CeraVe contains actives like ceramides and hyaluronic acid which you will not find in Episoft. CeraVe has another variant of AM Facial Moisturising Lotion that comes with SPF 50.

A night lotion or sleeping mask is essential for repairing daily damage and actively helping with anti-ageing. Dr. Sheth’s products have been formulated especially for Indian skin types. This sleeping mask has worked wonders for me. The formula is non-sticky and quick absorbing. You wake up to plump, fresh, hydrated skin in the morning. It’s a good alternative to the PM lotion by CeraVe, which also has hyaluronic acid and works to restore your skin overnight.

CeraVe’s Foaming Oil-Free Cleanser is a delight for oily skin people. It has hyaluronic acid and niacinamide with three essential ceramides that help in removing excess oil, dirt, and makeup while keeping the skin hydrated. Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Foaming Cleanser is basically CeraVe but better (if I can say so myself). The cleanser has a moisture balance formula with 33% glycerin and beeswax. With glycerin and myristic acid doing the heavy lifting, this one’s perfect if you’ve been eyeing CeraVe’s Foaming Cleanser. Dermatologically tested, it was created after a 365-day research period and gives a nourished healthy glow with every wash.
