Hinoki is killing it at establishing their 'slow bar' culture, matcha that is made fresh, right in front of your eyes by the founders (who are two college friends). What we love is the  feel-good community feeling that brings both matcha noobs and pros together under one roof. They have both milk-based and water-based matcha drinks on the menu with a plethora of different flavours and add-ons, making it the place for matcha in Delhi. No fancy frills — just simple, fresh green juju.

We keep reminiscing about Aeronot's iced matcha latte (with oat milk) because it's simple, well-made and has just the right amount of grassy notes and umami flavours. Bright green in colour, their matcha quality is fab (definitely high grade ceremonial), is always well-whisked and that super sweet staff is always up for making it your way in case you have any brief for them. Also, the sleek packaging of their takeaway glass and the aesthetic location make us feel like we are one of those 'soft girl' girlies on a matcha run.

The matcha lattes at Espressos Anyday make you say 'oof' with satisfaction because they taste and look that good!  We love that the space is dedicated to just good food, free flowing matcha and coffee and just pure awesomeness with its laid back atmosphere. As for matcha, you are crazy spoiled for choice since they don't only have lattes but coconut matcha floats, matcha tonics, matcha slush and even matcha americano. Our favourite is the Vanilla Ice Cream Matcha which is rich and creamy with oddles of freshness from the smooth matcha. The froth on this one is insane.

Fig At Malcha has been thoroughly consistent with their matcha. They have the basics: hot matcha tea for those who simply want to enjoy the vegetal, verdant flavour; there's the hot matcha latte and our saviour, iced matcha latte. Opt for oat or coconut milk and enjoy some creamy, balanced grassy goodness. The only notes we will have for the folks who already love and breathe matcha is to request them to make it slightly stronger since regular matcha drinkers might find their usual preparation a little humble. But all in all, our favourite matcha latte spot since day one.

Whenever we are craving quality matcha, our go-to order off Zomato/Swiggy is the Iced Japanese Matcha Latte from Third Wave. In store, we usually order a medium size with almond or oat milk. The only instruction you need to give them is to whisk the honey (for sweetening) with the matcha concoction beforehand so that it dissolves with ease. Their matcha is light, not at all bitter and refreshing— great for beginners in our opinion.

When in confusion, grab matcha from Got Tea because it's (severely) tried and tested. Their matcha is mellow with just the right amount of vegetal notes to not come across as bitter. Also, they have ample of options to spruce things up like strawberry matcha, chocolate matcha, matcha lemonade, vanilla bean matcha, mango matcha and even matchamisu which is a matcha-infused take on tiramisu. Add tapioca to turn these into bubble teas or coconut jelly if you like.

Greenr does amazing matcha in Delhi. We are personally biased towards their GK-1 outlet, and enjoy heading there every now and then when good matcha with a side of chill vibes is the memo. Their matcha vanilla latte is our go-to when we want to warm the insides—smooth, earthy and not at all bitter. For iced versions, the team's always coming up with different concoctions (iced caramel supremacy for us) and we are looking forward to the newer floral and fruity ones they have in store. 

LBB Tip: They are currently using Yuzen Matcha, a B2B brand supplying artisanal matcha which has a lovely mellow taste to it.

Café Però has amazing matcha. It's fresh, frothy and fabulous. The colour is a beautiful peppy green, whisked super well to give you a nice froth and the taste is umami but not too on your nose, just how we like it! Café Però keeps things simple which we really appreciate. Also, while you are at it, definitely try their matcha cookie too!

Truth be told, we are a little on the fence about Rush's matcha but feel it's a great place to start your matcha journey at for beginners just wanting to give it a shot. Though it has taken the internet by the storm, there's ample scope for improvement in the matcha's taste. But nonetheless, a great affordable option to try the grassy notes, especially with their range of fruity options like strawberry, blueberry, honey and lavender, and mango matcha, and moving on from once your taste develops.

The matcha at Brim's is fresh, whisked right in front of you, and packed with a distinct earthy flavour. The frothy matcha is layered with steamed milk to give you a matchaful cup. Move away from the basics while you are here and try their strawberry or mango matcha. We love the mango one which is made by blitzing mango pulp with heavy cream layered on top. It's creamy, tastefully grassy and the presentation is lovely too.

It's best to have matcha lattes with non-dairy milk. Oat milk is the best fit if you enjoy a slightly rich and nutty flavour that pairs beautifully with the herby notes of matcha. Almond milk is a lighter option which again has that nutty taste but is less carbs-loaded. Coconut milk is another fab option since its creamy and lends that natural sweetness which enhances the taste of matcha lattes, minus sweeteners!
