While Kirti Nagar is the name that springs up almost immediately at the mere mention of furniture shopping in Delhi, we feel that the Amar Colony furniture market in Lajpat Nagar has the kind of old-school furniture that is perfect if you want to infuse your home with some colonial style and a sprinkle of vintage here and there.

Who would've thought weathered, worn-down, really old furniture would make such a big comeback that people would be willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money to get something that resembled what our grandparents would have gladly handed down to us?

Be warned, though. There are no stores that'll make this a comfortable shopping experience. What you will find is a tarpaulin-covered lane with an assortment of furniture and décor pieces piled atop each other. On the surface, these may give off the energy of 'old, dusty furniture,' but if you've got the eye for it, you'll end up buying some of the most unique and quirky artefacts and furniture. The best part is that you can score an excellent bargain if you've got good negotiating skills.

Timings: 9 AM - 8:30 PM (All days of the week)

Nearest Metro Station: The Moolchand (Violet Line) or Lajpat Nagar (both Pink Line and Violet Line) metro stations are the closest metro stations to the Amar Colony furniture market. You can take an auto, e-rikshaw or rikshaw to reach the market, which is barely 10 minutes away from these spots.

You cannot not enter this shop and come out without grabbing a few decor pieces or accents. If you're looking to create your house in an old-worldly but not outdated fashion, you'll find tons of things here. They also had wooden tray sets with antique Indian prints on them that you'll probably find in a palace.

Krishna Furniture, Shop No. 17/18

This 'complete' furniture shop promises to offer everything you can possibly need while creating your home, including stunning accents that will have everybody asking you about where you got them from. If you're looking to amp up your living space or want to re-style your apartment, you can end up finding many things here that you'll want to take back home. The singing lady statue, in particular, caught our attention the most, and we realised their decor and accents are way more pop-culture/artsy and unique than the rest of them (safe to say you won't find anything like their store in the rest of the market)
