Minimalism this, minimalism that. It's safe to say the trend had a looooong run, whether in terms of fashion or home. In home space, particularly, it made every house look identical, and that's exactly what 2026 home trends are here to change. Moving away from the minimal & quiet luxury conversation, this year's home trends scream go big or go home in every way possible. Personality takes precedence over perfection, as homes start to loosen up a little with a maximalist aesthetic in focus. Having said that, there's so much more than just that to look forward to in 2026 when it comes to the home space, and that's why we dug deep on the internet, searched every corner of the web and have curated this list of 10 home decor & interior design trends that are going to be all the rage in 2026. Read on and bookmark this list for later, because some inevitable changes are coming for our home space.

Home Decor & Interior Design Trends That'll Rule 2026

Heritage Maximalism

Maximalism is back, and a big home trend this year is Heritage Maximalism. The idea is simple: go big, with discipline, and reimagining what we already own or have. This aesthetic blends traditional and often nostalgic design elements with the 'more is more' philosophy of maximalism. Think of it as 'layered history.' Prints on prints, patterns on patterns, yet every surface feels intentional and thoughtfully curated. Additionally, the Grandmacore or Grandmavibe aesthetic that's going around is also a part of it. It consists of elevated chintz, cosy setups, and bold patterns softened by muted colour.

Lived-In Aesthetic

The lived-in aesthetic is all about authenticity, comfort and personal spaces that embrace the beauty of everyday use. Moving away from the "perfect" clean aesthetic, the home will now actually look more like a home. Think of it as narrative-driven homes with more warmth and story to tell. Furniture shows use, art feels personal and decor is chosen for meaning rather than symmetry. Softness, imperfection and emotional resonance will be key here with no rushed feelings or visual drama.

Modern Country House

Essentially an extension of the Cottagecore aesthetic, Modern Country House, Modern Equestrian Elegance, or Hollywood Cottagecore is all about keeping the charm, warmth, and romance of rural living while sharpening them with clean lines and better finishes. Key here is to ditch outdated elements and pair relaxed silhouettes with tailored upholstery and traditional motifs refined through modern proportions. While florals, wood, and soft textiles remain a big part of this one too, they are styled with more confidence than whimsy.

Castlecore/Medievalcore

One of my favourite trends, Medievalcore, is about romanticising medieval castles and fantasy settings. An extension of Castlecore, it blends grandeur with cosiness and the material language of old architecture. Think jewel tones coming back in trend, statement lights being used as jewellery, dramatic wall murals, antique mirrors and even mirrored walls. Metal becomes a key part of decor, with antiques, brass & nickel favourites. Rich fabrics dominate the home, and art plays a central role with large displays that showcase emotions. The idea is to create something so timeless here that it surpasses every trend.

Circuscore/ Fun Haus

Also known as Carnivalcore or Clowncore, Circuscore is exactly what it sounds like. It brings back playfulness and whimsy into interiors. With features like bold colours, stripes, velvet, tented fabrics, and fun, theatrical elements, it is as expressive and unapologetically bold as it gets. Stripes are the defining motif here, appearing on walls, upholstery, ceilings, and soft furnishings. This trend feels like a rebellion against the serious home trends that have dominated the space in the last few years. However, it's important to note that the trend doesn't require you to change your home into a circus set-up. Use it selectively. For instance, a single striped wall, a playful lamp or a bold textile moment here and there is more than enough to embrace its beauty.

Blue As The Headline Colour

Not an aesthetic trend, but a colour trend, blue is set to dominate interiors as the core colour family. After Meadowland Green and Cinnamon Slate, shades of blue like mineral blues, dusty sky tones, inky navy and deep indigos are going to rule the home sphere. It'll be used across walls, cabinets, upholstery and decor, as it's super versatile. Based on the shade you choose and how you style it, it can feel calming, nostalgic, grounding or dramatic. Unlike seasonal trend colours, blue is a neutral that can be paired easily with any furniture, aesthetic, and set-up.

Tile it up

Coming out of their functional role, tiles are stepping into the decorative realm this year. The trend essentially celebrates unique and fun tiles. From different patterns to hand-painted, they will be reimagined and repurposed in every way. Think about using them on the kitchen ceiling and archways, or using different patterns and styles for floor tiles to give it a more fun look. They'll stop being just backdrops and become storytelling elements that add personality to a space.

Neo Deco

One of the biggest home design trends of 2026 and 2027, Neo Deco is a contemporary evolution of the classic Art Deco style. It blends the glamour and geometry of classic Art Deco with modern sensibilities and luxuries, aligning more with today's lifestyle. It's sophisticated, streamlined, and moody, with opulent jewel tones dominating the trend, but with a slightly deeper, richer approach. For instance, burgundy and deep navy instead of ruby and royal blue. The metals here are more polished and bright with a high-gloss finish.

Afro-Boho Trend/Afrohemian

A fusion of African-inspired design and the eclectic energy of Bohemian decor, the Afro Boho decor living room was one of the most searched aesthetics on Pinterest. It saw a 220% surge in searches for more ideas on how to incorporate the two. The basic idea here is to combine natural textures like rattan, wood, and woven material with earthy tones, bold African prints like mudcloth, Kente, Ankara, etc and vibrant colours. This balances the laid-back comfort of boho with cultural artistry and looks super chic. Animal-print furniture is one of the most common ways to incorporate it into your home.

Intense Wood Use

One of the most observed trends for home and interior design this year was an increase in the use of wood. Dark, rich chocolate-coloured wood furniture will dominate home spaces the most, but wood use in general, and in its raw colour, would also be a trend. Think of wooden walls, cabinets, doors, and more as dominant visual elements rather than supporting materials. Intense wood use will celebrate grain, tone, and texture across floors, walls, ceilings, and furniture, bringing more depth and warmth to our homes.
